In the middle of class, while his teacher is mid-sentence,
Carter stands up and walks up to Casey’s desk.
“Casey, will you be my girlfriend?”
“I’m too young, and you’re too short.
But I don’t mind just being friends.”
In the middle of class, while his teacher has paused and watched this all unfold,
without him ever knowing that she was listening,
Carter walks back to his desk and sits down.
And he doesn’t mention it again.
I wonder if he’ll remember this?
His first rejection.
Awww, poor guy!
That girl is going to regret that when she’s older & he’s taller!
Poor baby! That’s just brutal. But something in me also wants to give that little girl a high five. Somebody’s been teaching her that boys are the devil! Now they need to work on letting the boys down gently!
Carter, as a Casey, I would like to let you know that not all Casey’s are not like this Casey.
Don’t give up hope little one, try try again.
If you asked me out? I’d take you for ice cream. And then find someone a little closer to your age (and height apparently…)
oh my goodness. I have tears in my eyes. Bless his poor precious heart.
And, bless his teacher for standing back and watching something unfold. There’s a lot of beauty in that.
Tell Carter if he’s in to older women (10), I’ll let him have Janson in 30 years or so…
Girlfriend? Already? Agh! I agree with the too young part – but the too short part? Ouch.
Poor honey.
Hope he’s over it already!
