We decided not to find out the sex of #3A. It’s frustrating for a lot of people…myself included sometimes. Of course I’d like to know how to prepare the room. And what color clothes to buy. And it’d be nice to be able to pick out only one name.
But room decor for a baby is easily changeable(and they’re not going to remember it anyway). We have enough basic clothes for a boy or a girl, so that won’t really matter either. And as for the name…it’s kind of fun to try out several for each sex. After 2 kids, I’m kind of running out of ideas anyway! 🙂
I have a few friends who are pregnant right now, too. Most people these days find out. We did with Tucker. But with Emerson we decided not to find out. And I have to admit that for me(even the Type A personality parts of me that were dying to prep for either a girl or a boy), it was more fun to not know. There was a special kind of excitement in the air. Our OB didn’t know either, so when she pulled her out there was a big pause before she announced that Em was a girl. That moment is one I’ll never forget.
That one moment in time is the main reason we don’t want to find out this time either. I’m telling you…magic, pure magic! But the other reason I don’t want to find out is for the hundreds of other moments that I dreamed about the baby being a boy. His name, his build, his personality. Would he grow up to be a “manly man”? Would he play football or be a band dork like me? Would he like vegetables? All those little things. And then, of course, I also dreamed about the baby being a girl. Her name, her build, her personality. Would she be prissy and girly or a tom-boy? Would she prefer dolls or trucks? Would she like vegetables either?
And although Emmie was a girl, she was not at all what I thought she would be. She was, and is, even better. Just like Tucker. So…when I say that it really doesn’t matter to me if it’s a boy or a girl, I mean it. I’ll be happy with either. Because I know that no matter what-even if (s)he doesn’t have 10 fingers and 10 toes, or if (s)he has reflux and colic and is unbearable at times, or if (s)he doesn’t like vegetables-he or she will be more than I could have ever dreamed of.
But…since I’m a sucker for polls, and I’m so pumped that WordPress has joined with PollDaddy, I thought that it might be fun to see what everyone thinks. Until this weekend, I’d heard nothing but “Boy. Boy. Boy.” Now I’ve heard two votes for girl! For those of you who think that how your pregnancy goes tells you something about the sex of the baby, I’ll tell you this: I was sick as a dog for 24 weeks, and still have moments of completely overwhelming nausea and vomiting. I had a headache for 10 straight weeks, but it has finally subsided. (S)he doesn’t move as much as either of the other two did(or maybe I’m so busy that I don’t notice…definitely possible). I require much more sleep this go round(also probably due to the fact that I have a 2 year old and a 3 year old to chase around all the time). So, here we go…you tell me whether you think it’s a boy or a girl. If you want more info before you cast your vote(it’s a big decision, I know!), please just leave a comment and I’ll reply to it there.

It has to be a boy because the boy name would rock! Plus I’ll just call (s)he that anyway!
We still can’t decide if we’re going to find out baby number 3’s sex or not. My ultrasound is on Nov. 21st, but I think either way I’m going to have the tech write the sex down and seal it in an envelope. Then, we’ll either open it as a family at Christmas or I’ll toss it in the chimney. 🙂

Oh, and it’s so weird because I’ve also been very, very sick with this baby and exhausted – like I’ve been plowed over by a Mack truck. I’ve also been craving salty things more than sweet things. I plan on putting a poll on my blog as well to see what everyone’s guess is.
I voted for girl for you. Not sure why – it’s just the first thing that came to mind! So exciting! When is your due date again? I know so many preggos; I can’t keep them all straight.
