When I was in high school, I was a member of FBLA(which, for the record, Marshall thought stood for Future Black Leaders of America. LOL!). I was not only a member but I was an officer. Just writing that makes me laugh. It’s ridiculous, really.
I’m not really sure why I was in FBLA. I had no interest in business what-so-ever. I hated wearing a business suit. And the ugly matching pumps all the girls wore? Seriously?? But everyone was doing it. (And yes, if they’d all jumped off a bridge I probably would have, too.)
As officers in FBLA, we were required to take classes given to us through Toastmasters International. We had to write speeches and present them to our peers. After you finished your speech, everyone was supposed to give constructive criticism. Lame much?
I hadn’t thought about Toastmasters or FBLA in a long, long time until I saw this preview from one of NBC’s new shows for next year, Community. Toastmasters is mentioned briefly, but there are SO many funny things packed into 4 minutes. I hope the whole show is this entertaining! With Joel McHale, how can it not be funny, right??
